Empty Settings

If you would like to include or exclude Profiles that contain any value for a specific Attribute, or have performed an Event, you can simply add the condition without adjusting the settings.

If you add an Attribute condition and don't adjust the settings: Profiles that contain any value for the specific Attribute will be included or excluded.

If you add an Event condition and don't adjust the settings: Profiles that contain the Event or have performed the action related to the Event (regardless of when, how, how often and in relation to which activity or data source) will be included or excluded.

Event Version

Certain Event Segment Conditions, like Forms - Email Consent Event or Product Views Event, will allow you to pick an activity's Event version. Read more about Event versions here...

Expand the Version drop-down to select an Event version of your activity. You can identify which Event version by the date, and the Event data available in the condition.

What is an activity's Event version?

When you create and activate an APSIS One activity, it is saved, and its corresponding Event, as a version. Any changes later made to this activity are also saved, and a new version of the Event is created.

In the Segment Builder you can choose to use the previous or present version of the activity's Event for your Segment.

For example: during a certain campaign you had a specific element in your website mapped in your Product Views activity, but later removed it when the campaign was over. You can still target the Profiles that interacted with that element in your website via your Product Views activity Event, even after it no longer contains the element mapped.

Match Types

When setting up an Attribute or Event condition, you can specify which value Profiles must match.

However, you have a few options:

Contains: The condition value contains that which you input in the value field. For example: Birthdate contains "1993". Choosing to exclude this condition will result in excluding all Profiles whose date of birth contain "1993".

All URLs from links inserted into emails or SMS messages contain a unique link ID at the end. When using the Segment Builder to target all Profiles that clicked a link in your email, make sure to set up your condition to contain the original URL. For example: "Email - Click: url contains https://heartland.com/accessories/sunglasses".

Starts with: The condition value starts with that which you input in the value field. For example, Last Name starts with "J". Choosing to exclude this condition will result in excluding all Profiles whose last name value begins with "J", like Johnson or Jimenez.

Ends with: The condition value ends with that which you input in the value field. For example, Last Name ends with "N". Choosing to exclude this condition will result in excluding all Profiles whose last name value ends with "N", like Johnson or Molin.

Regex: This is used for regular expressions, which is a sequence of characters used to define a search pattern. However, using regular expressions is an advanced skill that requires background knowledge. Please refer to your development team, or consult a reference guide of your choice.

Greater than: The condition value is greater than that which you input in the value field. For example, Age is greater than "25". Choosing to exclude this condition will result in excluding all Profiles whose age value is greater than 25.

Greater or equals: The condition value is greater than or equals that which you input in the value field. For example, Age is greater than or equals "25". Choosing to exclude this condition will result in excluding all Profiles whose age value is greater than or equals 25.

Less than: The condition value is lesser than that which you input in the value field. For example, Age is lesser than "25". Choosing to exclude this condition will result in excluding all Profiles whose age value is lesser than 25.

Less than equals: The condition value is lesser than or equals that which you input in the value field. For example, Age is lesser than or equals "25". Choosing to exclude this condition will result in excluding all Profiles whose age value is lesser than or equals 25.

What - Match Event Data

When adding Attribute conditions to your Segments, you can simply define the value of the Attribute you're looking to match.

However, when it comes to Event conditions, you can adjust them to match a specific part of the Event. For example, which link Profiles clicked, which product they've viewed, or what specific email message they opened.

To learn more about Event data, head over to this article. You will find a list of the available types of Events and their corresponding Event data.

When you open the settings, you'll be in the What tab by default.

Note that this is available only for Event conditions, since Attribute conditions only contain one value.

1. Click Add Event data.

2. Click on the Event data drop-down menu and select Event data from the list.

3. Proceed to select a match type and enter a value for the Event data to match.

When - Match Event Date and Time

All Events logged into Profiles contain a timestamp for when the Event occurred, or the action was performed. Adjust the When settings to define a specific time and/or date for the Event.

1. Click on the When tab to decide the time of the Event.

2. Click Anytime to open the drop-down menu and choose between minutes, hours, days, weeks or months to choose a time interval or between dates to choose a date interval.

3. Enter the start and end date for your interval:

If you chose a time interval, enter a number under Between and And. For example: "Email - Click" device contains "Android", Between 4 And 7 months ago.

If you chose a date interval, enter a date and time under From and To. For example: "Email - Click" device contains "Android" From 2018-11-15 at 19:00, To 2018-11-16 at 16:00.

How Often - Event Frequency

If you want to target Profiles that performed an action a certain number of times, adjust the frequency.

1. Click the How Often tab.

2. Enter a number under Between and And to choose an interval. For example, "Email - Click" device contains "Iphone" From 2018-11-15 at 19:00, To 2018-11-16 at 16:00, Between 1 And 3 times.
